Adobe InDesign CS5: Beginner Tutorials

Introduction / Using the Included Work Files

Subtitles of the Movie

I have a couple of Work Files or documents that I've used during this tutorial on this for you that you can download and work with. Now, because it's a Beginners tutorial, a lot of the times I'm working with blank pages, maybe just with a frame of dummy text which I show you how to create or some of the graphics - these are the ones that I've included here - just on the page by themselves so that I can do it, so those are simple for you to recreate. There are a couple of documents that I've created that you can recreate or work with the existing ones if you prefer. One is the Peppers Menu. Here we have it here and as we scroll down I have the images placed. You'd be better off just recreating it from scratch. You have enough knowledge to do that and put everything down here and there we have more text down at the bottom like that. I also include the final ones so that you can see what the final one looks like, but don't worry, if your final one doesn't look like mine it's not important. You can make it look better. It's really easy. So, you'll see Peppers Menu Final and that has all the formatting included in it. This is just the basics. A lot of this is just dummy text and we've got some images here. The other one I include is Spanning and Splitting and there's a specific movie on these two features, so I just included this one file in there for you to work on it. Again, I have the Final option there as well. All the images are going to be available in Mini Bridge. I don't have them quite here at the moment, but the one thing I do want to say is I want to thank Photospin.com for letting me use these images in the tutorial and also package them for you to use. Not many stock photography companies would let you do that. They are low-resolution versions but still you've got something to work on that I can legally give you for you to practice with. You might want to check them out. It's a great source for stock photography. You just search for it. You could pay an annual fee and you can download as many as you want. I use this particular company an awful lot in my work. So, anyway, we've got these two files available to you. We've got all the images that I use available to you and we've got the basic file plus the finished file so you'll be able to see what they look like but, again, don't try and replicate exactly what I do. Use your own creativity to do something better. And one last postscript to this introduction, there are a few typos in some of the samples I have here. I really apologize for that. I just didn't catch them. I was concentrating on other things. Anyway, it in no way detracts from the tutorials in the sense that it is not really relevant to the teaching material, so I hope you'll forgive me this one and, unfortunately, there are no prizes for catching them.
