Subtitles of the Movie

Here we are where we left off in the last movie and first of all I'm going to sort here by warnings. This one is missing. The link has, this means that the link has changed like that. So first of all, let's go to this graphic. So I'll select it and if I don't know the page number I can always go to this icon, which is Go to Link. Here it shows it here and what has happened is I've gone out in Photoshop and changed the color of this. So if I need to re-link it, I can just come over here and re-link it and that way it'll print properly. If you don't re-link this and go to Print, you will get an error. It'll say hey, one of your graphics is not linked properly. Do you want to fix it? And normally you usually do. If you need to edit a graphic, you can do it from here. For example, let's go and choose this ship. I can just come over here and click the Edit Button. Now, this is something that I don't like that InDesign now does. It never did before. It now associates JPEGs with this Picture Viewer, which I will never edit anything with. So I have to come down here and choose Edit with Photoshop. I haven't quite worked out how to change it so that it edits JPEGs in Photoshop but I'm sure I'll work it out one day. So here we can come through, we can do the edits to this particular graphic. I can, for example, I'll just do a Hue Saturation change here so that I change the colors pretty dramatic like that, click in OK and then I'll save it, close this out, back to InDesign and if we go to this graphic now, there you can see that it is changed in our document and that is the joy of referencing these by links rather than embedding it in it. Let's take a look at another scenario. I'm going over to Bridge here and I'm going to take a graphic that I know is in here and we'll just take the plane for example. We know it's there and I'm just going to move it to another folder like that. So now when I go back into InDesign, I can see here the plane. There's a big question mark here. That means it can't find the link so we've got to re-link it. I can just click on it, go to the Re-link Button here and then we'll just have to navigate to the folder. Oh, I got the wrong one here. Must have moved it up here. There's Plane. Re-link it and everything is perfect now. So I think you'll find that managing your graphics through the new Links Panel just makes life so much easier. You've got so much information, especially this effective PPI. You can click in any graphic and if you're printing around 225 to 300 ppi you can tell it and you'll be able to see the warnings. You can actually get warnings from the Live Preflight and we'll be dealing with that in another chapter.
