Whenever you want to learn more about Illustrator, you can always find help by going to the appropriately-named Help Menu. When you choose Illustrator Help, it will launch your web browser. Now, I already have mine open so I'm going to go ahead and Firefox and I'm going to show you that I can go to Help and I already have mine open, as I mentioned and I can twirl down these little icons here to find out more about the software. So if I want to learn more about color I can click on Color and I can see what's in there so I can go to, let's see, Using and Creating Swatches. And then over here I can go to Swatches Panel Overview and then I can scroll down, see the pretty color illustrations and the diagrams and charts and learn more about that topic. If by any chance the topic is also in another Adobe application, an icon will appear over here. So let me go ahead and see if I can find under Drawing, Drawing Basics, About Paths and there we have it. Topics appear in Adobe Illustrator and in design. I can also do a search for a topic here as well. So if I want to learn more about the blob brush I'll type in blob and hit Enter or Return and then I can see things that the search engine finds regarding the blob brush. I'm going to return to Illustrator and talk about registration next. Registering your software has many benefits. It proves that you own the software and it also helps you when it comes to upgrading your software to the next version. Typically upgrading your software is less expensive than buying it the very first time, but you need your registration information in order to do that. Now, registration also helps you when you want to upgrade your software in the future and also take advantage of updates and any other benefits. So as you can see here, when you register your software you get a complimentary benefit here. So you can probably get a magazine subscription and all kinds of stuff. Now, I'm not sure what they're offering, but they also try to give you something to say thank you for registering and proving that you own it. It also tells them how many they sold and all that kinds of good stuff. I'm going to go to Deactivate now and of course I'm not going to actually do this but what deactivate will do is it will turn off your registration on the current machine. Now, why would you want to do that? Well, you might upgrade your computer. So your computer is old, it runs Illustrator CS4 but it's pretty slow. So you decide to get a new computer. So you deactivate your version on the older computer which will erase the serial number from this computer after deactivation is completed. Then what you can do is register it on the new machine. You can also check for updates to the software, invoke the welcome screen if you want to and also get system information. What this will do is open a dialog box which has all kinds of information about your computer. You can copy this information, all of it, or you can highlight the information that you want to copy to the Clipboard and then email it to Adobe Tech Support. Likewise, if you have Adobe on the phone and they want information about your computer or anything in this list, you can scroll down, find the information and read it to that person. So it's a really handy way to learn more about your computer and the things that are in your computer for yourself or for tech support. So that is the real benefit to using all of the functionality available in the Help Menu.
