Many of the tools that you will use in Illustrator have other options that are hidden in the libraries. You'll often find libraries hidden at the bottom of panels. Let me give you an example. Let's say that I want to fill in a rectangle with a color. But I really want more choices than I see in this panel. Well, if you look at the bottom left, you see that we have a Swatch Libraries Menu and even in the dedicated Swatches Panel we have the same icon. You'll find this on several of the different panels. All you have to do is click on this button and then you can see a whole bunch of choices in here. So if I want to color things with food colors, like vegetables, I can open that library and I can work with it in my document. So with my Selection Tool I'm going to make sure I have my object selected and I can click and now I'm using the colors from the vegetable world. And likewise, I can go to the new panel that I received by going to this guy and I see also the ability to go to the libraries again. So it's very handy. So this time I'll go to Foods again and I'll go to Sweets. Now I have the ability to color this in with Sweets colors. So the libraries are very convenient ways to get more options in your Illustrator documents. We'll also find them available for things like brushes. So if I want to create some very interesting brush strokes, once again I'll just select it with my Selection Tool, I'll go over to the Brushes Panel and behold, the libraries is here too. And what I can do now is I can find arrows, artistic and all kinds of different categories. So in effect, these guys are pretty smart and they know which things to put in here based on the panel that you're currently working with. Here's one for symbols and more. So libraries are going to be a great way for you to modify your Illustrator artwork with more choices than you would normally see in the default panel.
