Let's talk about how to create a Calligraphic Brush. This time instead of drawing out some strokes out here to then drag into the Brush Panel, what I'm going to do is click on a brush that's already in here and duplicate it. So, I'll drag it down to the New Icon, and as you can see I have a duplicate of it. Now what I can do is double-click on it and change the name, so I'll just call it My Brush and click OK. We'll come back to this guy in a second. I'm now going to grab the Brush Tool and with a one-point stroke and no fill and the color of your choice I'm going to go ahead now and draw out a stroke. Now, of course this does not look calligraphic in any way. If you're familiar with the Calligraphy Brushes they give you the ability to create a thin to thick variation as you draw. So, what I'm going to do is I'm going to grab my Selection Tool and just select my stroke here and then I'm going to double-click on My Brush and enable Preview and check out what happens when I change some of the parameters. So, actually I'm going to move this over a little bit more so we can see what's happening. Alright. The first thing I'm going to do is adjust the roundness and I can do that either by going to the Roundness of a Text field and entering my own parameter, or I can use this little Icon here. So I can also grab this little arrow and change the angle. Likewise, I can enter my own value here as well. I think it's a little bit easier and more intuitive doing it with this little Icon. And right away you can see that we do have some variation in the brush stroke. I can also affect the diameter but the real fun comes when you use these options here. Currently everything is fixed, but if you add some randomness you get this slider that becomes active, so now I can Randomize my angle, I can do the same thing with the Variation, and notice right here, the Roundness goes from Thin to Thick based on this slider. And I can also add some randomness to the variation. Now the beautiful thing about these parameters is that you can choose these based on your tools. So if you have a Stylus you can choose to work with Pressure, the Stylus Wheel, Tilt, Bearing, and Rotation. So you can really simulate all kinds of nice strokes. I'll go ahead and accept that. And let's go ahead and take a look at the new stroke based on the parameters in our new brush. Here's the original brush, and here's our new custom brush. I'll move that over now, and I can show you that it also works with the regular Pen Tool. So, here's the regular Pen Tool stroke. I click on the brush and that stroke is applied to it.
