Subtitles of the Movie

There is a cool feature in Illustrator called Envelope Distort and you can access it in more than one way and also create a very interesting effect. Now you see I had this shape that I created simply by grabbing my pen tool and just creating anything at random. I also used my type tool to create a block of text and the text simply says, This club is jumpin', it's really jumpin', Whoot, this club is jumpin'. Now, what I can do is once I select my text you'll notice that something changes in my Control Panel up here; I get this tool. And this is a Make Envelope tool. Now when I click this I'm going to get something that's similar to the Effect Warp here; it's going to open up this dialog box. So, I'm going to click this tool and I can warp this text, and I can click Preview, and pretty much choose anything I want to. So I'll go ahead and choose Fish, as I have it there, click OKay. And this is an envelope that's been applied to my text. You'll also notice that I have the ability to grab one of these points here and pretty much move it around. So let me grab the Direct Selection tool and I can move these points around and really warp this by grabbing these points and having a good time. And I can pretty much take that Envelope and change this shape into anything I want to, even make my own version of that fish. What I can also do with the warp is I can take this style as you see here and change it to something else and then continue to warp it as long as I have my Direct Selection tool selected I can click on it and change the way it warps. But you may be asking, All right. What does that have to do with this shape here? So I'm going to get rid of all of this stuff here and go back to this shape that's called, once again, Rise, and I'm going to show you that if I overlap it with this shape and put it behind it by going to Object, Arrange, Send to Back, or, I can choose this shape here and go to Object, Arrange, Bring to Front, as long as the object that I want to have as the warp object in front I can take anything else, a picture, text, anything, and then group both of them like so, and then go to the Object menu and choose Envelope Distort, Make with Top Object. Now that text, or whatever image, or whatever I want, goes into that shape and now I have the ability to work it. So isn't that great? You can take your Direct Selection tool and you can just reshape this. Oops, let me try to grab it again. Here we go. And I can reshape this and I have the ability to use that Envelope to continue to warp my object. So, try using the Envelope Warp to take two objects and have one object go into another one like this, or simply apply an envelope and then use the Direct Selection tool to change the object to your liking.
