My name is Bernard Aschwanden, I'm your guide through the VTC set of video tutorials for Adobe Framemaker 9. I've been working with Adobe Framemaker since 1992, starting off delivering training and writing materials, courseware using this software. Over the years I've worked with Adobe in a variety of roles as a consultant. I've worked with a development team, I've presented at seminars and conferences on Adobe's behalf and I've even helped to create some of the parts of what is today Adobe Framemaker 9. The books that I've written include a set of hands on guided tutorials related to learning Framemaker 9, using ideas that you've seen or will see in these video tutorials. In addition to my publishing background I spend a lot of time presenting, doing speaking tours, this includes conferences across North America and through out Europe. I also teach a range of courses, this includes technology such as XML and Dita, content management tools and best practices for structured authoring as well as specific software tools such as Framemaker. I spend a lot of time working with clients, looking after legacy content conversion, document analysis and workflow review and helped to identify best practices in technical communications. I'm a senior member of the Society for Technical Communications, the STC and I'm also the past president of the Toronto West TC Community. I've worked with hundreds of companies to help implement successful publishing solutions and I hope that the videos are of use to you and that you feel far more comfortable working with Adobe Framemaker 9 and have learned a lot of valuable tips and tricks to make it easier to do what you need to do, every single day when you sit down to create content.
