Adobe FrameMaker 9 Overview / Reverting Files
Subtitles of the Movie
In this video tutorial we're going to explore the idea of reverting to the last saved version of a file. Basically, whenever you work with a document and you make a variety of changes to it you can use the Undo feature in order to go back and reset some of the modifications you've made. However, there are certain changes that reset this Undo History and in those types of cases it may be a good idea to save your file, make a variety of modifications and if you're not happy with the net result use the Revert feature. I'm going to make a variety of changes to the document now including things like changing the title, deleting several of the cross-references, updating some of the cross-references into new formats, deleting a wide range of content, changing around some of the order of information using Cut and Paste and generally just changing content inside the document in a variety of ways that may not have originally been planned for. Once I've made these changes I could use the Undo feature in order to reset it, however, by going in under File and choosing Revert to Saved, I have the option to reset back to my original document by clicking OK. When I do so, the document's reset and you'll be able to see that all of the changes I've made have been discarded. The chapter title retains its original format and name; the original cross-references are restored; and looking through the document the content that I had deleted, or that I had gone and modified, is all put back where it was originally. Again, remember that it's important to first save your document at a stage that you want to be able to revert to, then make your modifications and once you're done, select File, Revert to Saved only if you're not happy with the results.
