What if we do not want those variables anymore, we want to convert them to text, we don't want them for some apparent reason, we just cease to use them. Well, there is lots of ways of actually getting rid of the variables that we have placed here. Now tapping delete would obviously delete the content - you know that is not what we would want. Let us select the variable that we have created before - go to special, then variable, now convert it to text. Now it will no longer become reliant on the variables that are created. Now, once we convert them, what does it say - it says “convert the selected variables”, or can we convert the variables named with the variables that are in the dialog box. Or we can convert all variables, we are just going to choose selected variables and convert. And notice it says No undo - if you undo this command, you cannot go back. And we're going to convert that, and hit Done. And now you can see I can edit this as I wish, without any problem at all. Now, hold that and double click that, and again, convert to text. Now notice, it is called Current Date(Short). Now we've got to click variables named, Current Date(Short), and click Convert, and then Done. Now, we are able to actually change the date manually if we wish. And here comes the bigger issue – we have Wagging Our Tails all over this document, as you can see, it is just about everywhere. What if we no longer want to use the variable for whatever reason it may be, you no longer want to use the Wagging Our Tails variable. You can go to Special, Variable, and you notice that by choosing the Wagging Our Tails, what does it say highlighted here. It says Pet Company, and I can convert it to text. I can convert all variables named Pet Company, or I can just choose All Variables if I wish. And again, there is No Undos - look what it says here, Warning: After a variable is converted to an editable text, it cannot be updated. Aha, now that is something to understand - let us break that down a little bit. If you have 50 variables on your pages, all different - once you convert them to text, you can no longer update them, they no longer will update. So understand that this is pretty much irreversible, and after you have done this, you would have to recreate the variable all over again, and that is enough to drive anybody insane. So now, it is in our best interest to click convert. And then you can click Done. And now, this is no longer a variable. Your variables will no longer update, which means that you, the user, have to update it yourself. So, now understand, and keep this in mind. ou, the user, have to update it yourself. So, now understand, and keep this in mind.
