Understanding FrameMaker Workspace / Converting a Word File

Subtitles of the Movie

Let's import a Microsoft Word file – go to file open and choose professional letter dot doc from the lesson files folder and click open. Then search for Microsoft Word - I want to convert a Word file and hit convert, and it imports the file directly into my application, and I can zoom in and zoom out. I am going to display the tools palette. And the problem is you see borders here, and I can turn borders on and off from the view menu; borders often represent frames or tables. And I could adjust these frames or tables by choosing select object. And by moving the objects around I can reposition, or expand an area. Move this down a little bit and choose smart select, select the type, and I’m going to increase the size so we can read it. I am going to type my address, and change the name of my company. Now, change your recipients address, and well call it Nowhere, USA. Okee doke - and we get rid of this copy down here; this is a professional business letter converted from a Microsoft Word file. Now if I hit enter it gives me a hard return, but if I backspace, hold down shift and then hit enter, that's a soft return. Now I’ll type my name at the bottom; and my title of CEO; select my name; italicize it; select my title; and bold it. I could also display the text symbols and also use the catalog. And I will show you how to display the view and choose text symbols, and shut off the text symbols, or turn it back on. off the text symbols, or turn it back on.
