Let's start with who I am; my name is Mario Leoni and welcome to this VTC tutorial; we are going to cover Adobe Framemaker 7.0. This is a wonderful application; the people at Adobe outdid themselves time and time again, and they always seem to just do better each and every time - Adobe Framemaker can be used for word processing. Well what I want you to understand that it is not just that, Framemaker has much more character than just a word processor. It is also a page designer, or you can actually design little graphic objects for your documents. It is also an equation editor - you can actually create mathematical or scientific expressions in your document. It is also a book builder; imagine making an entire book with one application and have the power to control each page individually, or control all the pages at one time. The e-Book builder; that's new and up and coming, Internet books, and finally for the web. You can certainly create a print style document and convert it over to a web style document and this has its benefits - you can actually control everything very thoroughly, since this is very important. So again, it is more than just a word processor, it is a much more glorious program than you can imagine - word processing, page design, equation editor, book builder, e-Book builder and finally convert print style documents to the web, all in this one package and much more. So, again, for word processing you could actually have Microsoft Word documents imported into Framemaker, and it will preserve some of the styles that have been applied, or some of the formatting that has been applied to that one document. Page designer, it’s great because it has graphic tools. There are graphic tools in Adobe Framemaker that will allow you to create little designs and little horizontal rules and several different things that you can use in your document. The equation editor is wonderful for expanding your mathematical explanation, or your scientific explanation. The book builder being able to create an entire book, wonderful; and e-Book as well; and finally the web, being able to create a print document and have it preserved and stay the same for the web.
