Ok, you can open up Cropping_an_Image.fm. Now, cropping an image is quite common, you probably do it every Sunday in the newspaper, you crop out the coupons, and you throw away the newspaper, and you keep the coupon clippings. Well that is what we do by cropping, we keep what we want and we throw away the rest. And I am going to show you two ways of doing that today, two ways of cropping an image. Choose a graphic frame; we’ll select that; and we will click and drag out a relatively large frame; keep it selected; stretch it out a little; and go to File; import file; import Black.jpg and copy it into the document; click Import; choose Fit in selected rectangle; click Set. There is our image, we are going to pull and stretch our image now. You can pull and stretch your image, you can also move your image around, without affecting the outside box, by clicking and dragging it from the center. We will click on the edge of the box, and pull it upward, and that crops the image, but it really doesn't crop it, it really actually hides the image, or so called "masks" the image. Now we are going to go ahead and head on off to Photo Shop and we are going to crop an image in there, and that will be real physical cropping, not a visual crop. This is more visual cropping - we are going to change the physical size of the image. Here we are in Photo Shop, now let us open our image - we will go File, Open, and choose Black.jpg from the lesson files folder, it shows you a preview, you can click Open. Cropping is quite simple and only involves one tool and three seconds. I am going to choose the Crop Tool, which is the third tool from the left. I am going to zoom in here, choose the crop tool, click, pull down into the right, and let go. Whatever is red will be thrown away, and whatever is not red will be kept. And you can change the shield color. You hit Enter on your keyboard, and it is physically cropped now. Save As, in the File Menu, and save it as tiff. TIFF or EPS seem to be the most common formats for printing these days - and click Save. Now, we choose LGW Compression, click OK, and that is how you can crop an image in Photo Shop. 39.0] Now, we choose LGW Compression, click OK, and that is how you can crop an image in Photo Shop.
