Basics of Working With FrameMaker / Metadata in a Document

Subtitles of the Movie

Let's talk about - what is metadata? Well, metadata actually travels with your document wherever you decide to actually send the document. It's information about your document, and this is very important when you want to convert a file to a PDF portable document format, and it will preserve that metadata. What metadata is, is XMP, which means extensible metadata platform. The information about your document is contained in your file and again it travels with your document. You provide information about your document, and some of the information is quite basic, so let us take a look at that. Go to file, file info, and you can see you want to put your author's name; title of your document of course; the subject; keywords if any; copyright. We will leave the web statement out, and we will leave the job reference out. And do you want to have this marked? - I will say yes. Once you are done setting the metadata, at the very bottom of your window there is a button called set - just click set. And now the document has been inserted with some information, which is the metadata. Let’s take a look at that – go to file, file info, and there we are. This information will be passed to a PDF file if you export to a PDF. be passed to a PDF file if you export to a PDF.
