Basics of Working With FrameMaker / Saving Files
Subtitles of the Movie
Let's take a look at saving files - file save as. And as you can see you can save as many different documents: 7.0; a view only document; document 6.0; a MIF; text only; a PDF, which is fabulous for web distribution; an HTML file, which is wonderful for web pages; an XML page; the Microsoft RTF family; and of course we have the Word family, and WordPerfect; and the RTF Japanese. So there is many different ways that you can save your document. Keep these in mind because they are going to be very useful to you in the future - I am going to choose HTML and just hit save. This document window comes up and it’s basically asking us whether or not we want to save as a HTML document and we’ll just hit yes. Now the paragraph tag body is not in the paragraph catalog, do you want to add it? - you say yes. And there you go, that's how you save an HTML document. Now for importing - we need to import things so let's go to file. And we are going to take a look at import, and then go to file. There is MIF; CDR; DIB; DRW; DWG; DXF; EMF; EPS which is very common; a PDF file; FrameImage; FrameVector; CCITTG4; GEM; a GIF file, which is a web file; HPGL; IGES; JPEG; PCX; PICT; PIN; Macpaint; SunRF; TIFF; WMF; WPG; XWD; CGM and SVG. There are so many files that you can import, and I can copy it into the document or import by reference - I am going to explain that. As you can see in this window, the HTML file that I saved before is actually here. I want to make clear that copying into the document can be much more important. If you import by reference, that means you need to give your printer the graphic files as well as the Framemaker files. But if you copy into your document, it is not necessary to give your printer the files, because the images have been copied into the Framemaker file. They have been embedded, and that's the terminology. They have been embedded, and that's the terminology.
