Deploying Flash Video / A Note on IE's ActiveX Warning
Subtitles of the Movie
I'd like to say a few words about this ActiveX controls warning that we've seen a few times in the last several tutorials. I get this warning in Internet Explorer running local content. I don't get it in Firefox running local content, and I don't get it in Internet Explorer when I upload the same content to a website and run from there. So, for example, let me get out of this. I got to that just by clicking here and what I've been doing is clicking, choosing Allow Blocked Content and choosing Yes, and the video runs. This is a file that I created to test the same material remotely. So, I'll click here and as you can see, it just plays the video. One other thing I'd like to show you Ð I'm going to double-click here Ð when I click here, there's also an option for more information. Can I turn off the Information Bar? Yes, but it's not recommended. Talks about the Pop-up Blocker, that's right here. It also talks about going to Tools, Internet Options, Security, and Custom Level. It talks about Downloads; I don't think that's relevant. And, ActiveX controls and Plug-ins, and that does seem relevant. So, perhaps I could go to Tools, Internet Options, Security, Local Intranet, Custom Level, ActiveX controls and Plug-ins, and change this behavior. Right now I've just got it set to the default, in other words Reset all Zones to Default Level, and then I get the behavior that we've been seeing. But, in any case, I'm not seeing this when I upload to a remote site and run from there, so it's not causing me any problems in actual deployment, and hopefully it won't cause you any problems either.
