Subtitles of the Movie
Continuing my review from the previous movie of the various graphics filters available in Flash CS3 Professional, let's now move on to the gradient glow. Select my gradient glow text. Now let's go ahead and add the next one, gradient glow. This one's more sophisticated. I have a combination of the gradient and the glow filters, including outer, full, or inner. The full looks pretty good there, nice demonstration and a blur setting. And now let's apply it to the button, gradient glow. Notice you also have this gradient tool. For more information about how to use this tool, see my movie in which I cover adding gradients to your projects. Probably that would be better to apply it to the text element. Let's go ahead and add some more points there and click on the point and add some colors to this gradient like so. That's a pretty interesting effect there. Quality Setting, Blur, Amount, there on that button. This takes us now to the gradient bevel filter. Let's go ahead and remove the gradient glow on my text and let's change this to gradient bevel like so and also remove the filters from that button beneath there. And now let's go ahead and add the gradient bevel. This is a combination of the gradient and the bevel tools. Notice that I can add gradients here, gradient points, and change the color, as I did with the gradient glow, as well as add a bevel, inner, outer or full. Knockout, and let's move to the button and add a gradient bevel to that as well. There's the knockout; you can see that it's a combination of the gradient and the bevel tools. There's my knockout for the bevel on that button, and there's the gradient bevel for the knockout, little bit different. Notice that there's more color there. So that takes us to the last filter, which is the adjust color. Let me go ahead and add this filter to all of the others. What you can do here is adjust the brightness and contrast, as well as saturation and hue of the colors that you're using. So notice that's going from green to a blue color through more of a brown color. Let's take my drop shadow now and add adjust color filter to that drop shadow text turn up the brightness, contrast, and let's change the saturation, bring that up, and now change the hue. You can also have a reset button. That didn't do a whole lot. Let's try this button here. Let's change the hue first to a more of a orange color. Saturation, turn that up, contrast up, brightness down, like so. Now let's go with the bevel that has the knockout on it. Let's add and adjust color, change the hue, and that's not doing much, saturation. That's probably because it's white; it's not really changing it very much. Let's go ahead and go back to the bevel. Notice I can go back here and turn off anything that I like and readjust that, so let's turn up the brightness. There we go, now I'm getting more effect there with the adjust color. Let's go to add adjust color to that one. So you get the idea that you can combine these filters, as I demonstrated in the previous movie. You can also rearrange the order in which they're applied, so you can do the adjust color first. Let's go back to the bevel, and let's go ahead and add the knockout back, and let's change the order and see if that does anything. Let's adjust the color first. Doesn't look like it's changing much, so let's turn off the knockout. And there you have a pretty comprehensive review summary of the seven graphics filters that are available in Flash CS3 Professional, as well as many of the settings and properties for each of the filters. That'll conclude this section of the tutorial on symbols and instances in this section. You've had some naming guidelines for your instances. You've learned how to create symbols. You've learned about the library and how to share your libraries, how to modify your symbol instances and also modify your symbols in the library. You've learned how to set color styles of instances, and this last section was on the seven graphics filters that are available in Adobe Flash CS3: drop shadow, bevel, glow, blur, gradient blur, gradient bevel, and adjust color.
