Now you can also Tween other Symbol properties, including Filters, so let's drag out three copies of this rectangular Symbol and let's select all three of them, and let's add a Drop Shadow, and let's adjust the Drop Shadow so it throws a little bit more than normal, and it's a little bit more diffuse than normal. Now let's go ahead and line these up so that they're on top of each other using the Alignment Tool. And we'll do that by aligning their left edges, center, right edges, top and middle so that those are now lined up right on top of each other. Here in the Layers Panel we can turn off Layers, so let's turn off the first and third layer, that brings us to the second layer and let's modify this Filter, this Drop Shadow Filter so that the angle of the Filter is straight up top like that. And now let's go back to my Layer Panel, turn off the second layer, go to the third Symbol there, double-click on its Filter, modify its Drop Shadow so that it's in this position over there, actually let's go a little bit further down to there, so I have three Drop Shadow Filters. There's the first one. Second one is up top. Third Drop Shadow's over and down to the left. Now let's go ahead and turn on all three Layers, select all my Instances and now choose Modify, Symbol, Tween Instances, as I did before Ð this will Tween all those Drop Shadows Ð let's Tween this over 15 Steps, click OK. And now let's Preview this animation, and you can see that the Drop Shadow is now moving as if there was a light source moving around that object. It's looping it so it looks a little bit funny between the first and the last loops but if we just rewind it and play it once you can see that the light source, it appears as if the light source is moving, creating that Drop Shadow. So there you have a review of Frame Tweening in Fireworks CS4. Again, Frame Tweening is an automated process that's useful for more sophisticated movements of objects across the Canvas, or when you want to animate Filters so that the filters change in each frame of the animation. That then will conclude this section of the Tutorial on creating Slideshows as well as working with Animation Symbols and creating Tween Animations. Let's now move on to the next section, Optimizing Images, although Fireworks can be used in a variety of situations to create or edit images for a wide range of uses, it's really been designed from the ground up as a Web Graphics tool, so it's primary use will be to work on graphics that are destined for the Web, and one of the primary tools that you'll use is the various tools for optimizing your images. So in this next section you'll learn how to optimize images in the workspace, how to optimize presets and custom settings, how to optimize GIFs, PNGs, TIFFs, and BMP files as well as how to optimize JPEGs, as well as how to optimize images using the Optimize Panel.
