In the previous movies I demonstrated how to add interactivity to your hot spots and slices by attaching behaviors to either a hot spot or a slice, but you can also place a hot spot on top of a slice to trigger an action or a behavior. You may want to do this if you have a large graphic like I have here, but you only want a small portion of it to act as a trigger point for an action. In this case, when I roll over Colorado I want the picture to change. Likewise, when I roll over Wyoming, I want the Wyoming picture and the Utah picture when I roll over the Utah text, so in this case notice that only a portion of the image here is actually triggering the action. You can't do this with slices because you can't place the slices over each other, but you can use a combination of hot spots and slices, in this case I have one slice covering the entire picture, and then three hot spots over each label. Attached to each hot spot is a swap image behavior. I'm swapping out Frame 1 for Utah, Frame 2 for Colorado, and Frame 3 for Wyoming. So, let me demonstrate how to apply this technique of using hot spots on top of slices with a Starter file. I have my images, Frame 1 with Utah, Frame 2 has a picture of Colorado, and Frame 3 of Wyoming and three hot spots. Let me now take my slice tool and draw a slice, a rectangular slice over the entire canvas. In this case I drew my slice after my hot spot, so the slice is actually on top of my hot spot, so I won't be able to select the hot spots with the Selection tool, but I do have another tool here, Select Behind tool. Using that I can select that hot spot and then I have my behavior handle. Let's drag the behavior handle right onto my slice. Let's swap image from Frame 2, since that has, actually Frame 1 has my Utah picture, so let's choose Frame 1. click OK. Now let's click on the Colorado hot spot. Drag its behavior handle onto the slice. This time I'm going to go with Frame 2, and the last one is the Wyoming, drag its behavior handle onto the slice. Let's choose Frame 3 and that's it. That's all you need to do. Let's go ahead and preview this. Turn off my Web layer, and double check that everything's working okay, and there you have the technique of using hot spots on top of slices to create some interesting actions and behaviors. I should point out that you want to avoid creating hot spots that overlap more than one slice, or unpredictable behaviors may result. Let me now move on to the next movie and cover how to prepare your slices for export.
