A Poster Frame is set by you to give your viewers an indication as to what's going to occur in that particular scene or chapter that they choose from the DVD Menu. A good example is let's say you are watching a Transformers movie DVD and you love the scene where the robots are fighting near the Hoover Dam. Well, the chapter itself doesn't actually begin where you might want to show the robots fighting over the dam. For example, I think there's a scene where Starscream, which is one of the robots, is flying past the building. That might make a great poster frame and a poster frame simply tells the viewer that this scene takes place here and this is what's going to happen in this scene as opposed to maybe a wide or an establishing shot showing the whole dam and not really showing any of the action, which is pretty boring. Now, in the case of this tutorial, I'm going to show you that I have here not the Transformers, because I don't own that of course. I wish I did. But I have this tutorial from my podcast and what I show is how you can take a staircase and put it inside of a mirror. So let me go ahead and just zoom out quite a bit so I can find the frame that shows the effect that I want to show somebody. I think this is much more interesting because the stairs are inside the mirror than this, which is the beginning of that particular podcast. So if I want to, I can then take my chapter marker, which is the chapter I want to show, and I can drag it into one of the menu events here. By the way, the menu I'm using is in the Library under the Technology Set and it's the Gears Menu. So go ahead and put that back over there. I'm also going to get rid of a couple of these chapter points. I don't want them to get in my way here. So we can just focus on what I'm doing. Alright. So I have one chapter marker and I'm going to click and drag it right on inside of this bin. I'm going to also maximize the frame so we can see that by default it places the first frame of the movie here. That's not what I want. I want those stairs inside this mirror. So once again, I'll restore that. I will make sure I have it highlighted and I will scrub through my timeline, of course looking through my monitor to find the stairs inside the mirror. Then I'll go to Timeline Menu and choose to set that as my poster frame. Now let's go back to my Gears Menu and there it is. The stairs are actually inside the mirror now. I'll maximize that frame and this is much more interesting to someone who probably wants to see what effect they might learn in a particular chapter and once again, in a particular movie. So if you want to show an action scene or you want to show somebody getting rescues or the destruction of a castle for example, you might want to show the dragon, like, breathing fire on the castle so that people know that this is what happens in this scene. I'll restore this frame and before I end this I want to show you the difference in the shape of the markers here. The poster frame marker, it looks like a poster. It's square and it has a little number in it as opposed to the chapter marker which is like a little house. It's got the little chevron on top of this little square here. So that's what a poster frame will do. Once again, it'll just give your viewers a better indication as to what's going to occur in the scene they choose from the menu.
