Encore has a built-in help system that's really helpful when you want to learn more topics on your own or to clarify things that you have an idea about but you really need a little bit more explanation about. If you go to the Help Menu over here on the top right, I can see that I have a Search Field and I can enter a topic in or I can use this Encore Help, which is really, really cool. Whenever you open this, by the way, it will access the help for all of your Adobe CS3 applications. Let me go ahead and invoke that. As you can see with this little Browse Button here, I can choose the application that I'm interested in, in this case of course Encore, and I can search based on the contents, I can click on this little cross here to open that down and see what's in there. I can also click on Index and search alphabetically for a topic. Let's say buttons. I'll click on B and I can see down here, buttons. So I'll go ahead and click on that cross and I see all the topics related to that. Or, as you see here, I entered the word Button earlier so I can click on the magnifying glass and I can find out how many different results come up for Encore and as you can see, it found 50, also indicated by the 50 in parenthesis right here. Encore CS3, 50 results. So it also gives you a search in the other applications in your suite. So for the Bridge, 29 topics, in Design, 50, Acrobat, zero and so on. I'm going to go back to Encore and show you something else really important. System Info. Now, I'm not going to invoke this right now because it's going to show you a serial number for Encore. But what this will allow you to do is when you talk to the Tech Support, it'll give you information about your computer system, which you can then talk to them about. You even have the option of copying the information that comes up here and then pasting it into an email just in case you wanted to email the Tech Support person while you're talking to them on the phone, which I often do with certain companies. I'll get on the phone and say Hey, look, let me just email you this information. I'll copy it and paste it and while the guy's talking to me he can see what I'm talking about instead of me reading the entire list of Apple Macintosh OS 10, blah, blah, blah, I have two megabytes of RAM and all that kinds of stuff. Registration; this is important and deactivate things. Let's talk about what this means. Of course when you own a legal copy of your applications, as I do, you have to register it and when you register it, that tells Adobe that you have purchased this product and this is your serial number so that when you need help in the future or you're ready to upgrade to the next version, you've already registered and they have your information and you have proof as to ownership. Which means you get to pay the upgrade prices instead of the full price, which is the real benefit to buying software. It's a really great way to have Tech Support and to get the latest, greatest prices on any upgrades. Now, Deactivate and Activate. What do these guys do? Let's say I decide that I no longer want to work on my Desktop computer and I want to really work from my laptop, my MacBook Pro. I can Deactivate my activation of Encore on this machine, which is a MacPro and then it will then no longer work on this machine. Then I Activate it by installing it on my other computer. That serial number will say OK, he Deactivated it here and he wants to activate it on this machine. So this pretty much gives me the ability to work on whatever computer I want to. So that's what that will do for you. And last but not least, you can check for updates to your software and, of course, you click on this and Encore will do a little check for you and see whether or not there's a later version for you to install. But chances are the Adobe Application, which is called the Updater, will do that for you anyway. It's going to occasionally check your computer, see what version of Encore you're running and then tell you there's a new version and asks you whether or not you want to install it. So that is all the wonderful stuff that Help will do for you inside of Encore CS3, as well as the rest of the Creative Suite.
