Interface / Properties

Subtitles of the Movie

Encore provides you with a Properties Panel that lets you see detailed information about your assets. It's located right over here in the Default Workspace and don't forget; if you don't see this, you can always go to the Window Menu and choose it from the list. This holds true for any panel. I have two different things in my project so far. I have a movie and I have a theme song that I wrote in Garage Band. When I click on one, the Properties Panel will change and tell me different things about the selected item. Now, in this case, I have a movie so I see that's it's called Output.mov, which is a QuickTime movie and I have a description in here, which I typed right in this field. So it says a render of a tornado done in Combustion. Now, this is kind of handy, especially when you're working with other people. You can always type a description in here, which becomes a part of the metadata. We can also see the DVD transcoder, the Blu-ray transcode where applicable, where it's located on your hard drive, the media category. So just in case you don't know what it is, you see that it's a video and the format, the date it was modified and the time, its duration, the size and the dimension as far as pixel size. So it's nine megabytes as far as storage capacity and dimension is 720 by 486 as far as actual size in the computer. So that's the movie. I can also click here to preview it. Now I can go to the theme and see different information. So I can see the name, I can once again click here to type information. So I just type Theme Song and I can see that same information; the location, the media category as audio with format as an audio file, the modification date, the duration of the song and the size. Since this doesn't actually take up any pixel dimensions, for example we can't see it, you're not going to see anything as far as the dimensions are concerned. So the Properties Panel is going to change based on what you have selected; whether it's an image, a movie, audio or whatever you have in here. This is a really good way to keep track of what you're working on and also write notes that are really going to be helpful to anybody else on your team.
