Subtitles of the Movie

A slideshow without audio is pretty boring and it's really not going to keep the viewers attention and music that has a good beat is definitely going to get them involved and, of course, it depends on what the theme of your slideshow is of course, which will dictate the type of music. In the case of what I normally do, I always have some kind of action-oriented characters or slides that I want to show. So you're not going to see me doing, like, you know, wedding music or party music or that kind of thing. I'm always doing that really hard driving kind of thing. Now, I only have four slides in this slideshow so the song I'm going to bring in is just under a minute and, of course, for this I would probably have, you know, maybe 30 or 40 slides, maybe 30 because I want them to be at least a second or so before the next slide. So you're going to have to just find a fine line between the music and how long you want the slides to be on. I'm going to show you also how you can have the slideshow automatically match the length of your song. Now as you see here, I have four slides. And the duration, as you see on the bottom, is 24 seconds. So the duration of each slide is roughly six seconds long. Alright? It's going to change when I bring the music in. So I'm going to go to File Menu and I'll import an asset. This is going to be the theme song for my podcast called Vector Crush and I'll bring that in. This song was generated in Garage Band, which is a part of the iLife suite. If you do have iLife and you don't know how to use Garage Band, please check out the tutorial on iLife on the VTC website. Little plug there. So let's go ahead and bring this into our slideshow. Currently it's just in the Project Panel and not associated just yet with the slides. So I'm going to click this little guy right here to slide the audio options over and we have a pickwhip. By now you're familiar with this guy. I can click and drag it right to the Project Panel and on top of the audio file to then put this inside of this production. Now what I can do is click on the theme song down here or I can click on it up here and I can, you know, look at the different properties associated with it as usual. So don't forget, you can always change the properties and see what's happening in your production by looking at it down here. And we can click on our slides and you'll notice that the duration has increased. So why is that and how do I actually change that? Well, I have to click on the slideshow itself in the Project Panel. Then the properties change. I see the name of the song and let me slide this over. I see the duration, which once again matches down here and I also have this ability to fit the slideshow to the audio duration, which is very handy so you can have it match exactly. If you have a very short piece of music and want it to loop over and over again, select this option here, Loop Audio. So what I'm going to do is I'm actually going to click Fit Slideshow to Audio Duration and it's going to take a moment to do its little calculation and as this little thing spins around, I can make it bounce and now that it's done what I can do as well is I can preview the slideshow. I'll go ahead and press the Play Button. -Music playing- And as you saw, that slide was on for a tremendously long time. So once again, try to keep your slides on for about two, three seconds and just try to figure out how many slides you need for the music you're playing. Now, by the way, if you don't see your slideshow playing, you have an option down here under your slides that allow you to render the effects that you have in there. So if you have any transitions or anything that aren't showing, click this button. It's very similar to this button up here where you can render the effects so that the little red bar that appears at the top of the slides turn green and tell you that you're good to go and you can press the Play Button and then watch your slideshow in the monitor.
