Introduction / Course Overview

Subtitles of the Movie

Hello, my name is James Gonzalez; I'll be your guide through this tutorial course covering how to use Dreamweaver, the world's leading Web Page Creation Tool, to create web pages that are formatted using Cascading Style Sheets. Cascading Style Sheets are very powerful and creative tool for web site designers and developers, giving them the chance to be completely consistent with the look and feel of their web pages. We'll also providing more control over the layout and design, more control then straight HTML ever gave them. Invented in 1997 Cascading Style Sheets, commonly abbreviated as CSS are widely used among browsers and many web developers are beginning to use them in ever more powerful and creative ways. Many tags that used be the only way to define the look and feel of a page have been completely replaced by CSS such as the Font Tag. This course will cover everything you'll need to know to use Adobe Dreamweaver to start creating your CSS based layouts and also how to modify existing CSS pages to make them your own or to meet a set of specific design needs. If you're already a Dreamweaver user and want to create more sophisticated pages and get more control over the look and consistency of your web pages then this the resource designed specifically for you. The course itself is composed of movies between 3 and 7 minutes in length, organized with other movies and sections of related techniques or topics, starting with this section providing an overview of this tutorial. Before we begin I need to orientate you on how these videos work. I'm currently using Screen Capturing Software to record my voice and computer screen. The movie images and video images you'll see running on my screen are being captured by this Screen Recording Program. I'll be recording my screen while demonstrating all the important features of using Dreamweaver to create CSS based web pages. Each of the files you see here in the work folder was chosen or created to demonstrate and instruct on a specific Dreamweaver or CSS skill or technique. So I've included them in the tutorial to give you more help in mastering all the information that I cover in the tutorial. Access these files in the Work Files folder, their named in accordance with the title and topic of the movie they were used in. For example to have a look at the file that was used in the movie entitled Absolute Positioning, open the Position_Absolute.htm file here in the Work Files folder and there it is right here. I hope you'll find these working files very helpful in your efforts to learn the content that I cover here. In many cases you'll want to use these working files and work right along with my demonstrations in a particular movie. Let me now move onto the next movie and provide a summary of exactly what I'll be covering in this tutorial.
