Introduction to Dreamweaver CS5 / Covered in this Course

Subtitles of the Movie

Let me now briefly review what will be covered in this course. By the time you view the last of the movies in this Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 course you'll have a solid understanding of all of Dreamweaver's most important and useful features. You'll also be very familiar with the application, familiar enough to start building your own Web pages and websites. In the course I provide a thorough overview of the Dreamweaver Application Interface including Dreamweaver's important Windows, Panels and Interface components. I also cover how to set up a Dreamweaver site and cover in detail how to use proper file and site management techniques to avoid the problems that many beginners experience in their first handful of Dreamweaver sites. You'll learn how to format text in both lists and paragraphs using the Property Inspector and how to lay out documents using both tables and divs. You'll also learn how to insert various media elements into your Dreamweaver document such as video, Flash animations, and graphics from image editors like Photoshop and Fireworks. I cover extensively in this course how to format page elements using CSS and how to lay out pages with positioning CSS. Next, the course reviews how to set up and test Links and how to create Forms using HTML Form Objects. I include also a lot of details in how to format these forms so that they're easier to fill out and use. Library elements are also covered, that is, Dreamweaver Library elements, so the creation of Web pages can be automated and made more efficient. The course next covers how to add interactivity to your websites through the use of JavaScript behaviors and Spry Widgets and Spry Effects. The course continues with tips for managing your site files, tools for checking your links and the course concludes with a review of how to extend the functionality of Dreamweaver through the use of third-party extensions. Throughout the course, the material just covered is reinforced and reviewed through the use of a course project, which is the planning, setup, design and creation of a small working website. I'm very confident that by the end of this course you'll gain an appreciation of just what an indispensable tool Dreamweaver is for designing, developing and maintaining websites and the Web applications that are very common on the Web today and why Dreamweaver is the world's leading html editor.
