You'll probably want to manage your Dreamweaver extensions using the appropriately labeled Adobe Extension Manager, which I have open here. The Extension Manager is a separate application that is installed when you install one of the Adobe products. This Extension Manager lets you install and manage all extensions in the various Adobe applications, not just Dreamweaver. Notice that I have some Fireworks Extensions that I'm also managing with the Manager here. You can start this Extension Manager from inside Dreamweaver. Go ahead and close this down, choose Help, Manage Extensions from the Dreamweaver Main Menu and that will launch the Adobe Extensions Manager application. Notice that it's loading my specific extensions that I've installed previously, both for Fireworks and for Dreamweaver. Here I can enable or disable the extensions. I have the name and version of the extension as well as the author. Notice that I can also use the Install Icon button here to install extensions that I've previously downloaded from the Dreamweaver Exchange site. I have a file that I've previously downloaded in my Temp folder that we can use the Manager to install, jQuery Utilities, click on Open and notice that it will install this extension for me. There it goes and give me a little description of what this Utilities Toolset does. It's successfully been installed. In order for the changes to take effect, you must close and then restart Dreamweaver CS5. Many of these extensions do require you to restart Dreamweaver after you install them. Once in the Extension Manager, notice I have a nice description of the extension. You can also Remove Extensions that I no longer need. Let's go ahead and remove that extension and it updates me with a dialog that that extensions has, indeed, been removed. Let us also, from the Dreamweaver Exchange site here, when you click on the Download button to download an extension it will often give you the option of opening the extension with the Adobe Extension Manager or by saving the file. Let's go ahead and use the Extension Manager to open this extension. Click OK. It went ahead and installed that for me. I can go ahead and accept the fine print. You're about to install the unsigned extension Dreamweaver CS5 Validator. Are you sure you want to install this extension? Let's go ahead and click Install and let the Extension Manager do that chore for us. Click OK and there it's been added to my list. Another reason you'll probably want to use this Extension Manager to manage your extensions is it's very easy to enable and disable extensions from the interface right there. Let's go ahead and Enable this particular extension. And it's going to go through the various steps for me, do this chore and then give me this dialog box when the extension has been successfully enabled. Notice here, in order for the changes to take effect you must close and then restart Dreamweaver CS5. Let's go ahead and Disable by again just clicking on the Enabled button to toggle that on and off, so I'm using the Manager to Disable. Click OK and here you have the Adobe Extension Manager for managing all of your Adobe extensions, not just the Dreamweaver extensions. That'll conclude, then, this section of the tutorial on Extending Dreamweaver. In this section, you've learned how to extend the capabilities of Dreamweaver through the use of these extensions as well as how to find and download Dreamweaver extensions via the Dreamweaver Exchange website. You've been introduced to the Adobe Widget Browser as well as the Adobe Extension Manager for helping you manage these extensions. That takes us now to the final section of this course, course Wrap Up. Let me go ahead and give you a summary of the course you've just completed as well as a brief introduction about me, your instructor.
