Let me now provide a brief overview of what's covered in this tutorial. By the time you view the last of the movies in this tutorial you will have a solid understanding of all of Dreamweaver's most important and useful features, you will be familiar enough with the application to start building your own webpages and websites. I have provided in the Work Files folder on your CD a complete set of the Dreamweaver working files that I use to demonstrate the various application features and Dreamweaver techniques, use these files with the media elements that I've included in the working files folder to work through the various movies with me, going along and using many of the same exact files that I use to demonstrate these important Dreamweaver techniques and skills. The course starts with a thorough overview of the Dreamweaver application interface including Dreamweaver's important windows, panels and interface components, I also cover how to set up a Dreamweaver site and cover in detail how to use the file and site management tools to avoid the problems that many beginners experience in their first handful of Dreamweaver sites. You'll learn how to add and format text both in list form and paragraph format. And how to layout pages using tables as well as AP DIVs. You'll learn how to insert and edit various media elements from other members of the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Flash, and Fireworks. Next you'll get a thorough introduction on how to format page elements using CSS and how to layout pages with positioning CSS. Next you'll learn how to set up and test links and how to create forms using HTML form objects including techniques for formatting the forms so that they're easier to fill out and use. Library elements are also covered so the creation of web pages can be automated and made more efficient. You'll also learn how to add interactivity to your websites through the use of Javascript behaviors and Spry widgets and Spry effects the tutorial concludes with tips for managing your files and tools for checking your links and the accessibility of your pages. And then the last few movies include a review of how to extend the functionality of Dreamweaver CS4 through the use of third party extensions. I'm confident that by the end of this tutorial, you'll gain an appreciation of just what an indispensable tool Dreamweaver is for designing, developing, and maintaining websites and web applications and why Dreamweaver is the world's leading HTML editor.
