Dreamweaver Workspace / The Insert Menu pt. 2

Subtitles of the Movie

Next, we have the Forms tab, this contains buttons for creating forms and inserting form elements including Spry validation widgets, you've got here your text elements and text fields, check boxes, radio buttons and radio groups, list menus, jump menus, notice that if you roll over each button there's a little tool tip that tells you what the button will do, field sets, Spry validation text field over here to the right, Spry validation checkbox as well as Spry validation select and so on. Next, we have the data category, this lets you insert Spry data objects as well as other dynamic elements like record sets, repeated regions, here is the record set paging, detail page, display record count and so on. Next is the Spry category, this contains buttons for building Spry pages including Spry data objects and widgets, we'll be covering this relatively new feature a little bit later in the tutorial. Next is a new category, In Context Editing, Adobe In Context Editing is an online hosted service that lets users make simple content changes within a web browser, to change a web page users simply browse to the page, log in to the in context editing service and then edit the page. Before you enable users to make live changes on the web however, you use the buttons here in this in context editing tab such as the create repeating region, create editable region, or manage available CSS classes to make your HTML paged editable, you do this by specifying regions on the page that you want to allow users to edit, next is the text category, this lets you insert a variety of text and list formatting tags such as bold, italic, strong, emphasis, paragraph, H1 through H3 and then ordered and unordered lists here, definition terms, abbreviations and so on. And the last is the favorites category, this you can right click to customize your favorite objects here, this lets you group and organize the Insert Bar buttons that you use the most all in one common place here under favorites. So there you have a quick overview of the Dreamweaver CS4 Insert Bar here at the top of the interface. Now the Property Inspector at the bottom of the interface is I believe one of the most important interface components in all of Adobe's products and I think Dreamweaver is no exception so let me now move on to the next movie and review in much more detail how you're going to be using and some of the features of the Property Inspector in Dreamweaver CS4.
