In this movie, let's talk about XML. XML stands for Extensible Mark Up Language. Basically it's a way to organize text, information by labeling it with specific variables. Right here you can see an XML file. I just copied this information off an example XML with your Adobe product, and what I want to do is go over here into our Adobe Contribute and actually look at that file. What we can do is browse through the XML page, we can edit it, and we can publish it. But of course the XML page has to be valid, if the structure is goofed up, you won't be able to edit it in Contribute. Now we cannot create new XML pages in a Contribute site but we can edit it. Let's go open that up and right here in your work file, they have an example XML file. I will give that to you so you can just at least open it up in Contribute and see how it works. And right here is that XML file. I can go in here and edit this information area, but of course, these labels, notice I can't get into those. But I can go ahead and save it, I can do my spelling check, and I can also validate that XML. So here's what it looks like in Contribute, the area's you can edit, then let's go over here, back to Dreamweaver, and look at the coding. See right here between the first beginning tag and ending tag, that's where I can edit and write there. Everything else I can't get a hold of in Contribute. Right here is what I can edit. It's always going to be outlined for me, so I can see what I need to work with. So if you'd like to try an XML file in Contribute, you can go open up this work file and give it a try.
