In this movie, let's look at another option for working with your pages, let's talk about Editing Pages in Other Applications. What we can do is make a link on this page to say a Notepad file, a document file, and then when we want to go edit that within Contribute it'll actually open it up in Notepad for us. So let's go Edit this Page and down here at the bottom let's make a link for a brand-new page, it'll be a file on our computer so let's browse for it, let's use this CS5 text file. I created it just in Notepad; it's just a plain text file. And then I will click OK, and it does warn you Editing the file on your computer will not make a change to the copy on the website, I'll click OK and there is my link. I'm going to hit Publish and I'm going to Replace that older version with my newer one, I'll click OK here and scroll down, there's my CS5 link if you look down on my status bar you can see it, CS5.txt, I'm going to click it, tells me I can't display it in my browser but I could edit it with another application. So I'll click Edit and right there you can see it's going to open up a Notepad, I could add other information, save it, close out of it and I'm good to go. But some files if they're created in other applications you can go out there and do this. Let's go back to our main page, I'm going to take this out, hit my Enter key, takes me back to my main page, I can go ahead and edit this page, I can add more links to external files in different types. Remember if you go to Edit Preferences and File Editors that is where these different things are listed. So if I have a TXT file Notepad, a document file Word, XLS, XML, your bitmap all those different extensions if you have other extensions you can also work on the editors over here. So take a minute go in there and create a link to just a plain text file, open up Notepad, save a file somewhere on your desktop and make a link to it and see how that you can edit it in a completely different application.
