In this movie, let's talk about PDF's, we can insert PDF's into our Contribute sites. PDF's are Portable Document Format. Now a PDF basically is something can anybody can read in Adobe Reader. Adobe Reader is free from Adobe dot com, you can go there, download it, and you can look at any PDF file. The reason people use PDF is because anybody could open that file for free, they don't have to Microsoft Word, they don't have to have Microsoft Excel, so this makes it a lot easier for everybody to read the document. Let's go take a look at some PDF's available online. This is a PDF I just put on my website so we can play with it later on. Here is a PDF from Adobe dot com, PDF Access, we can hit the plus sign, make it larger, we could hit the minus sign and make it smaller, notice down here at the bottom we can scroll and of course it's your right side as usual. We can go to a specific page here, so PDF's are very easy to navigate, we can hit our up and down arrows, and we have a nice little element over here, where we can click on different areas on the PDF that we want to look at. So this is a ten page PDF, it could be hundreds and hundreds of pages, if we want it to be. PDFs are great things to put policy manuals in, things like that. Over here is a form from the IRS, the W4 form, as you can see, it's just a quick two little pages, but on this one, you could actually go in there and type, print it off, do whatever you need to do. Much easier, you could type in there, in those fields, print it off, and or email it possibly to somebody. So those are some examples of PDFs. Let's go open up Contribute and let's work with some PDF's in there. Now we can embed a PDF into our Contribute page, or we can insert it as a link. So let's edit this page and get a connection here to this page from our website. OK, we're on our page here, let's go put some PDF's in there, let's go up to Insert, and right here is where it says PDF document. We've got three options, we can go directly from our computer, from our website, or from the Internet. Let's do from our computer, and I'm going to go to my desktop here, and in the workfiles, I've got some PDF's that I created. Now if you don't see that icon showing up, the Adobe icon on your PDFs, you probably need to load Adobe Reader on your computer, most people have it, and you always want to make sure you keep updating Adobe Reader to make sure you've got the latest elements for it. So let's do that PDF defined one. I'll click Open, here's my options, create a link or insert it as an embedded object, so I'm going to create a link. So now if I preview this, there's my link, click on it, and there's my PDF file. OK now let's do the other one, let's put it as an embedded object. We'll use from my computer again, let's do PDF defined, click Open, this time we're going to do it as an embedded object, it's part of the page. Notice right here we could remember this if we wanted to always do the same thing each time, click OK, notice it's giving us a little information about Screen Readers. Sometimes PDF content is not accessible to the Screen Readers, so let's go ahead and click OK, and our PDF file is in there, can't really tell much, but if we go preview this, and it does take a little bit, it's got to post that whole PDF file there, and as you can see there's our file. If we needed to scroll or anything, we'd have that ability, but this is just a one page document right here. OK, let's stop right here and in the next movie, we'll keep working with inserting those PDF's.
