In this movie, let's talk about thumbnails. Thumbnails are mini reduced size versions of a picture, it's just a small version of the graphic. I noted Amazon dot com to show you some of these little thumbnails. If I click this, notice that was tinier than this one, and I can click this, and I even get a larger image, so you can go to thumbnail to thumbnail to an even larger image. You can do that as many times as you want obviously. Let's go into Contribute and let's make our own thumbnail. So what I'm going to do is go Insert an Image from my Computer, and again I'll include these in the work files. I have a little thumbnail of a building, so right there that is tiny little picture, and it won't be clickable, nothing. But I can link that to a bigger image, so I'm now link it to a file on my computer, browse there, choose the large one, and then I'll click OK. Notice again talks about whether you edit the file, how its going to make changes, so let's go out there and preview this. Right there is my small image, if I put my mouse on top, changes into that hand, and if you look at the Status Bar at the bottom it showing you the link to that specific image. If I click it, there's the larger image, so nice and easy to use, and nice and easy to do in Contribute. Just click the image and you get the larger thumbnail, so you could do like Amazon dot com and have a series as it gets larger and larger, probably don't want to go too carried away with that, or you can just do the single thumbnails. Those thumbnails would be great if you have pictures of a vacation or something, you can put a whole page of thumbnails that loads really quickly. You want the images to load quickly or people are not going to stay and look at it. If the Amazon dot com took forever to load little images, nobody would look at it, so you want to make sure that you start out with thumbnails. Now the other thing I want to show you about these files, the file I used was the one called large building dot PNG, and thumbnail building dot PNG. Let's view and look at the details of these files. Now what I want to show you is the size, the large one is 773 kilobytes, where as the thumbnail is 71 kilobytes, so you can see thumbnails, mini versions of those pictures, drastically cut down the size, which drastically cuts down your load time when you're waiting for the page. So make it easier on your users if you're selling products, if you're showing photos, make them small, and let them choose which ones they want to click on, and see the larger versions that might take a little bit to load on their browser.
