Adobe Contribute CS3 Tutorials

The Contribute Workflow / Workflow pt. 1

Subtitles of the Movie

In this movie, let's start looking at the Contribute workflow. Contribute has a basic three-step workflow. It's called browse, edit, publish. The browse element we're going to specifically get into in this movie. When you browse, just like you browse on the internet, you just simply look around. What I want to show you is in Adobe Contribute here, I have this website open for editing. Right now I'm just browsing it until I can find the page I want to edit. So if you go out to the internet, I simply bought this domain name and then set up free hosting for it, hence the ad at the top. But I can browse this website, click around and I'm just simply looking at it on the internet. I have my back and forward buttons, I can stop the page and I can also refresh. Now, I can do the same thing within Contribute. A minute ago I was out there on Internet Explorer browsing. Now I can just browse within Contribute. See how I can click on the same areas and I'm just browsing around. I also have my back buttons here. I have a stop button just like you can stop a page from loading on the internet if it's taking too long. I can refresh the page to make sure I have the most recent information. Home pages right here will allow me to switch between areas. I have a blog called Contribute CS3. I can click on that and go there. Down below here I have an address bar. I can simply type in an address, click go or hit my enter key and I can actually browse on the internet. Notice it will tell me right here that I don't have a connection to it. I can't really edit it. But it actually takes me out there. Now, you'll notice it takes me out here to, actually on the internet because I'm in Internet Explorer here. It takes me out there because of those ads that are popping up. When I go back to Contribute, here I am back in Contribute. I can read my title bar and there I am. Now, let's try a different website. We will try Oprah's website. And there we go. You'll notice all the flash exploding, all the movement you see here and there. Again, I can scroll down the page, ready anything that I want and I can still hit my back and forward buttons and go throughout the internet. And again, it goes out there and it's grabbing advertisements. So let's go clear back to my techrelief.info and what we can do is just browse around websites as much as we want until we find the page that we want to edit. Let's go look at a blog and show you how you can browse around that. I can click here and go to the blog, which is my other Contribute site or I can click here and I can go to home pages and then select that. Here's the blog. I created it within Blogger and I connected to it within Contribute. Again, I can click on the different posts and I can click the back and the forward buttons to go throughout. Again, I've got stop, I can refresh the page to make sure that if I've got comments on there, etcetera, that I can see the latest comments. And again, I can click in here, change my address. The interesting thing about blogs, etcetera, is I can select specific entries. So once I get a lot of entries or a lot of posts in my blog, I can select certain areas. That way I can easily and quickly go to those places. So Contribute allows browsing. It has the built-in browsers so that people can easily get to a web page and you'll more likely bet buy-in so that people will edit a web page. They're very familiar with browsing and browsing is just window shopping, looking through web pages. Therefore, people will be a lot more comfortable and willing to update blogs or websites. So you've got the toolbar. You understand all the buttons there so go into your Contribute and look at that toolbar. Make sure that you understand all those elements. They're very easy because you've browsed on the internet before. In the next movie, we're going to look at more of the elements that Contribute allows for browsing.
