The Role of ColdFusion / ColdFusion Editors
Subtitles of the Movie
ColdFusion Editors, well, you're looking right now at one of them and as of ColdFusion 8, Dreamweaver is the preferred Adobe product for working with ColdFusion itself. There are some developers who use a product called Eclipse, Eclipse is an open-source product and there are some ColdFusion plug-ins you can use to work with Eclipse. This course will be using Dreamweaver CS4. Dreamweaver has many features that are specific to ColdFusion and that's why I want to use the Dreamweaver environment. It's also another Adobe product which is why it's recommended to be used for ColdFusion itself. ColdFusion, when it was first introduced used to come with the product called ColdFusion Studio and that was the development environment that was used up to version 5. ColdFusion Studio has not been supported for quite some time which is why we're using Dreamweaver. So there are built-in Dreamweaver features to assist you, we'll be looking at these throughout the course. So we'll be using Dreamweaver CS4, we will be setting up ColdFusion and doing a few preferences for Dreamweaver specific to ColdFusion moving forward but we'll look at those in a separate movie. So Dreamweaver CS4 is what we're going to be using as a development environment for ColdFusion 8.
