I've wanted to cover the software requirements for this ColdFusion course. The ColdFusion 8 requirements for installing ColdFusion 8 are available at the Adobe web site. And on this page, you'll see a link to the present ColdFusion 8 System Requirements. Most computers can handle working with ColdFusion 8 unless, it's a rather old type of system. So, if you're concerned your system's a little bit old, make sure you visit the Adobe web site for their System Requirements. Another required element is a web server. We actually install the web server that comes with ColdFusion itself on the install. Mac users can use the Apache server built into a Mac. That install is not covered in this course. And down below on this page, I do have some information about working with this particular course on a Mac. Dreamweaver CS4 is also a program we'll be working in and that's the environment you're looking at right now. There is a Trial edition that last 30 days and it is a full version. So, it is possible to go through this course and everything in it within 30 days using the Trial version. We'll be using an Access database and you will need Administrative rights to the computer you're using. You also need a Browser for viewing the web pages. And my preference is to install the Firefox Web Developer extension as well, that is a Firefox AddOn program really helps with web development. All movies are done on PC with Vista as the Operating System, although it can be done easily on XP. It's virtually identical. This course has not been tested on Windows7. Since ColdFusion can connect with any web server, it is possible to run this on any type of server. However, the course installation works with the development server that installs with ColdFusion. If you're going to install to the built-in Windows server, or the built-in Mac server, the installation may be a little bit different when it comes to defining what web server you're using.
