In addition to the link types you've seen so far, here in the legend you can see that there are a number of other options. To demonstrate one of these, I'll select the last slide, double click to revert back to the Edit View and then double click to open the Button Dialog. This time from the User Clicks on the Button Success Menu, I'm going to chose Open URL or File. In the Web Address Field I'll quickly type a fictitious web address. Just before I dismiss this dialog box, notice that if I click on this black triangle I can choose how I want the browser window to open. By default, Current may be selected but in this case I've previously selected New and in doing so I now have this option which becomes active; Continue Playing Project. Well, in this case I don't particularly want the project to continue playing so therefore if I select that option, I can then disable it. I'll click back on the Black Triangle. You can see now the tick has been removed from that item. Now if I click OK and switch back to the Branching View, at the bottom now of the last slide we now have the Open URL or File Icon. If I click on that we then get the Properties for that particular button. Sometimes when working with very complex branching scenarios you might find that you need to hide certain sections of the branch. To do this you can click on the minus symbol that you see on any of the thumbnails. So for example, if I click on Slide 17 here and then click on the Minus Button, I can then collapse all the slides that are after that particular slide. To expand the branch again I can either click on the Plus Button or I can choose this icon on the Toolbar. The Tools Panel also includes some other icons such as Browse into Slide. To demonstrate this one I'll select Slide 10 and then click on this button, Browse into Slide. Now if I scroll across, you can see everything before Slide 10 has been removed from the view. To restore the view I simply click on the Browse Back Button. Notice also this little menu here and if I choose Welcome it will then display all those slides that were before Slide 10. Another handy feature of the branching view is the ability to export the entire view into an image format. There are two image formats available here; either JPG or BMP. Once exported, you can then open the graphic in an image editor such as Adobe Photoshop. In Photoshop I can now include a production note. The current branching decisions defined in this particular file could now be saved into a PDF format and sent out for the client to review. Just one last thing to point out here; as you'll probably expect now with anything to do with Adobe Captivate, all the tools that you see here in the Toolbar are also available via the Context Menu.
