Using Adobe Captivate you can check Spelling in most places where text occurs. To run the Spell Checker go to the Project Menu and choose Check Spelling. You can also press F7. As you can see any words that Captivate cannot recognize are now shown in the Check Spelling dialog. From here you can either choose from the list or enter the spelling correctly. In addition, clicking the Options button enables you to review and-or adjust the Spell Checking options. For example, if I were creating an e-Learning course specifically for the UK market then I can choose English British from the Main Dictionary Language menu. Notice also that you can, in fact, select the Dictionary Language directly from the Check Spelling dialog as well. I'm going to change all instances of this misspelled word by clicking the Change All button. I'm going to leave colors the way that it is at the moment because I'm working for an international market so I want to make sure that colors is called the US way and so I'll just click Close. As well as being able to access the Spelling Options via the Check Spelling dialog you can also customize these directly from the Preferences and to do that just go to the Edit Menu and choose Preferences and here in the General settings of the Global category you can see that I have the Spelling Preferences button. I click on that, I then get the same spelling options you saw a moment ago. I'll click OK and then OK again to dismiss the dialog. The most important take-away from this lesson is that as well as being able to check the spelling of Text Captions you can also check the spelling for Slide Notes, Slide Names, Text Animations, as well as Quizzes, and to demonstrate this I'm going to right-click on this first slide, choose Properties and then misspell Introduction. I'll click OK and this time I'll just press F7 on my keyboard. OK, so for some reason it's telling me that Apply still hasn't been spelled correctly, so let's change that again and we'll also change colors here as well as composition and here now you can see the misspelled word, Introduction, that's coming directly from my slide label. So to change that, again, I'll just hit Change All and Captivate now reports that the Spell Check has been completed and that, in fact, there were four corrections made.
