Adobe CS2 Power Projects Tutorials

Intro to Adobe Photoshop CS2 / What is Photoshop?

Subtitles of the Movie

Adobe Photoshop is without a doubt the world's standard photo editing application. It does its job well. Better than anything else out there. There's not even a close second place. And just in this training series alone, we're going to talk about how to select parts of an image to alter just this part or that part. We're going to talk about how to correct color problems or create really weird color combinations for special effects. And speaking of special effects, we're going to be talking a lot about how to apply those; glows and shadows and 3D simulations, blurs and that type of thing. We're also going to be talking about painting. And if you think painting in Photoshop is just selecting a color and painting you are very wrong. The painting engine inside Photoshop is extremely robust. We can make everything from confetti to grass to snowflakes with one click of a mouse. We're also going to be covering the automating of Photoshop where you set up something once and then from then on you click a button and Photoshop will go into action automatically and do it for you. We're also going to be talking a little bit about doctoring images. How to trick the eye into seeing something that isn't there or to make the unbelievable, believable. Another really amazing thing about Photoshop is that it does a little bit of everything in the Creative Suite. It holds its own as a photo editor as I mentioned better than anything else out there. But it also can create logos like we have in Illustrator. It can also do a little bit of page layout like we have in InDesign. It can also do a little bit of web design as we have in GoLive and ImageReady. It can also create presentations like we do it Acrobat. Photoshop is just one of my favorite applications in the whole world. Adobe puts so much into the upgrading of this amazing application. They usually think of new features that I could use before I even think of them. And so it is my absolute pleasure to be able to introduce the world of Photoshop to you. We're going to go through a brief interface overview so that we know what we are doing when we get there. But then it's on to Photoshop and the magic that I have talked about will be at your fingertips.
