Next on our list of smaller appendage programs is Adobe Bridge. Adobe Bridge actually started out as a Photoshop creation. It was what we called the File Browser back in Photoshop 7. And basically it was a way that we could go in and navigate through a bunch of files. We could even rate them, sort them and what not. In the next version of Photoshop after that Photoshop CS, we saw that the file browser got even more powerful. Well thankfully in Adobe's infinite mercy. They said, "you know what?" This is such a great tool that it should be available for all applications. All Adobe programs. And so they created this Bridge. And it's so aptly named because it can be used or launched by pretty much any single Adobe program. It browses all of Adobe's file formats and it does a lot of other nifty tricks as well as we'll see. Now you can get to Bridge from any of the major applications that we've looked at so far. Now my resolution is set to 800 by 600 for the screen capture software that I'm using. So your not seeing the Bridge icon on my interface. If your resolution is set to higher than 800 by 600 then you will see the Bridge icon approximately here on the top part of your interface in Photoshop or Illustrator or InDesign. And basically what that looks like is a magnifying glass looking at a folder with the seashell on it. That little seashell is the icon for Adobe Bridge CS2. Now whether or not you can see that icon, it doesn't really matter because we can just go to File, Browse to launch Adobe Bridge. I'm going to maximize this so we can see everything here. And here I'm looking at the Work Files folder. And if your looking at the Work Files folder from your regular OS browser, you can't probably see all of these thumbnails. You will not be able to browse movie thumbnails which you could do here in Bridge. This actually, this Spring Forward clip actually is a movie here. Select it once. It comes up in the Preview pane. Hit the play button. We can play video from right here in Adobe Bridge. So it's a file browser but it does so much more. Imagine how much easier it is to find the file whether it's a Photoshop file or an Illustrator file or a regular image file or even a movie file or an audio file. Imagine how much easier it is with Adobe Bridge to do the work for you, of helping you find your files. But of course that's very little of what Bridge does. Bridge also sorts and organizes. It's also a great place to save favorite places that you like to go to. For example, I like to use the presets that come with Adobe programs a lot. A lot of time I like to scroll through them. But on Windows it's kind of a pain navigating to those places. I have to go to my C Drive via my computer, then go to Program Files, then the Adobe folder, then the Product folder and then the Presets folder and on and on an on. It gets irritating doing that every time I want to look up or navigate within those folders. So over here under Favorites, I set them as Favorites so I can just hit those buttons to jump right to that directory. It saves me so much time. It really is the way to work inside of Adobe programs. So let's get a little bit more in depth into these features of Adobe Bridge that I've talked about. It really is a phenomenal program.
