As the sphere of influence of the digital world increases, more and more people and more and more things are starting to do everything digitally. Which is great. It saves on paper, it saves on time, it's just really the midst of the communication age that we are in. However, with this increase of the sphere of influence of digital stuff, we also got more bad guys out there trying to make a buck or trying to deceive us or trying to steal secret information or what have you. And so Acrobat has a very powerful system for securing documents. And if we go to the secure drop down here, we will see that we can password encrypt this document, we can also add security policies and show the security properties of this document and all that kind of stuff. If you would like to learn more about that, you can go to this "Getting Started with PDF Security" and it will be like a feature of the Help menu that pops up and gives you information about password protecting things like printing or even opening the document. And again, folks, this really is the wave of the future, I've got a top secret document from Adobe the other day and it was a PDF that was password protected. And good thing too, there were some really top secret information in there. So, you want to make sure that your documents are secure as you need them to be. Maybe certain people have certain passwords. Certain users can't get on your PDF. And another way that we can give some authority to our PDF is by digitally signing it. And I've got to tell you that with all of my contracts that I've been signing lately with different companies, I have been using this digital signature tool inside of Acrobat. It is legally binding. And we can go to this sign area here and hit Place Signature and if there is already a signature field, we can just selection Sign Document and again, this is unbelievably secure. If I sign this contract and then it went back to somebody that originally had it and they thought they were going to pull a fast one on me, and so they changed the terms of the contract once I signed it, it would invalidate my signature. It would no longer be a valid signature. Acrobat recognizes that this document must not change if it is to be legally binding. And that protects me as I sign this document, as I put my name on it. Now, you won't be able to sign the document until you have created a digital ID, so this seems like it's super easy, but there is a few things that we've got to do before we create a digital signature. Let's go to the Advanced menu and select Security Settings. And so what we will need to do before we digitally sign something is that we have to create a digital ID. If we don't have anything showing here, then we can hit the ADD ID button and then we go through these steps and they are pretty self-explanatory. I don't want to create another digital ID here on my machine, but all you have to do is select Create a self-sign Digital ID for use with Acrobat and then follow the steps and then next time you want to sign something, all you have to do is click Place Signature or Sign Document and Voila, the document is signed. The digital signature that is added by the way, is not like a cursive signature, it's just an information box that is added that just basically has your name, and the date and that type of thing, but it doesn't have your signature, you don't have to bring in a file or anything like that. So, it technically doesn't look like a signature, it's a digital signature. So that is pretty much Acrobat in a nutshell. I really hope you got something out of this, every time I go through Acrobat, whether it's in class or in video-based training like this, I'm just astounded that Acrobat is so powerful and it can be used in so many more work flows than it's currently being used in, whether you do video or whether you do print or web or what have you, Acrobat has something for you. Acrobat has something to enhance your work flow to make it more efficient and more reliable and stable and secure. I really recommend you taking a look at what we've gone over here and trying to implement it and see what Acrobat has to offer, whatever you are doing in the digital imaging field.
