After Effects is able to import SWF files ,which comes from Flash. When you work in Flash, let me just hop over there very quickly, the file that you're actually building at the time is called an FLA file or Flash file. But when you're ready to put that online or if you want to bring it into After Effects, you can save it as a SWF file, which is like a little, compact movie that plays with the Flash Player. Now as you can see here, I have a project that I did for a client and I have some snow falling in the background and I did all of the stuff in Flash. But let's say I want to add just a little bit more pizzazz or I want to do some color correction or add some snow or particles or any of the bells and whistles that live in After Effects. Well, all I have to do is after I finish my animation is simply go to File and then choose Export and Export Movie. Then I can save it as a SWF Movie and as you can see, I've already done this on my Desktop. Then I hop on over to After Effects and go to File, Import File and just click on that guy and bring him on in. Now, what I'm going to do is click on this guy and just drag it right into my comp and there it is. It's ready to go and the animation plays back smoothly and I can continue to add to it. So I can go to Layer, New and I can add a solid for example and I can add other effects to it if I want to and I would just add it to that solid. So let's say just for fun I want to add, well, let's see. I'll add some bubbles to it and as you can see, because I have it on a solid layer, now my animation has bubbles and then, of course, I can animate those bubbles in Flash but why do that when I can just bring it into After Effects and then apply it. Then I can save this file out in whatever format I'd like and present it to my client. So as you can see, Adobe has really made it easy for you to bounce around in the Creative Suite to really integrate and make some very, very nice things based on your favorite applications. So if you're more comfortable using Flash for things, do what you do in Flash, bring it into After Effects, add some special effects and then bring it into Premiere and do your edits and then finally you can put it out on DVD or Blu-ray.
