Subtitles of the Movie

After Effects renders layers in the opposite direction that they are presented while you're working on them. For example in this composition we see that we have several layers and when I click on the eyeball we see that the night layer which is this blue solid is on top of this duct gray solid layer which has my rain on it. So if I hide both of those we see the actual footage is on the bottom of this stack of layers. But when you render in After Effects the render order is bottom first. So the bottom layer is rendered first, followed by this one and this one. Now normally this is not a big deal and I actually never think about it because I don't really you know have to change anything so that After Effects will render things for me in a way I like them to render, After Effects does great job. But sometimes it will change how it renders things based on whether you're working with the raster or vectors. For example if this is a non raster composition or layer, what would happen then is After Effects will then render the masks first and the effects and transformations and then layer styles. So if I am going to have things with vectors, then the transformation such as motion and anything like that, opacity scale and that kind of thing will then render before the masks and effects. So once again I generally I don't worry about that because I don't have that issue. After Effects for me is for me to bring my animations or my films into it and do all kinds of color corrections and special effects, explosions, rain and that kind of stuff and then I render it out and bring it into another application for a final arrangement. So I just wanted to briefly mention to you how After Effects renders its layer. So having said that just keep that in mind if you need to do anything that's going to have any considerations taken whether you're working with vectors or your working with raster layers.
