Subtitles of the Movie

When you are working with green screen work or you're doing something that requires that you hide other parts of the footage you want to use what's known as a garbage mat. What it is essentially is a mask that allows you to focus on what's important while hiding everything else so you can get the king and you can get the special effects right in just the area that you need. And as an example I'll just use this chair here, as you see I have this chair in this footage and let's say I don't want to see anything else here. What I can do is just grab my pencil and draw a shape around it and when I let go of the mouse I will have what's known as a mat and everything else that I don't want will automatically go away. I'm just being a little sloppy here, just to show you what would happen when you finish the shape. So once again if you had any wires or you had some camera crew or your dog or your cat or anything else that you didn't want to have in the scene and you want to do your special effects just on this area then you would use a garbage mat. Another thing to keep in mind is if you want to do something called Roto scoping which means that you manually, every single frame animate that mask. You might go slightly insane but that's what people do for a living in After Effects. They, you know do light sabers and they do all kinds of things where they really have to focus on one element, like a tube, an outer glow to it or something like that. You can also use this technique to block out everything you don't want to focus on and just create that mask or that mat. So once again it's called a garbage mat, not a very complicated concept but it can take time depending on what you need to erase or remove from your scene.
