Interface / Custom Workspaces

Subtitles of the Movie

After Effects provides you with tons of different workspaces that will allow you to focus on the task at hand. For example if you simply want to work with all the effects tools at your disposal, select effects and all the tools that you'll need for effects or for paint or for working with text will appear in your lay out. Now what if you want to create your very own workspace, all you have to do is choose new workspace after you select the tools that you like. So what I'm going to do is I'm to at random just pull out all kinds of tools that really don't make any sense, having out at the same exact time. So I'm going to have everything I can think of and I'm going to go to window, workspace, new workspace, and call this one nonsense. Because I don't know what in the world I can accomplish by having all these tools out, except for going just a little bit crazy trying to figure out what's what. So as you can see this workspace makes zero sense, so I can get rid of it when I come to my senses by going to window, workspace and delete workspace. But there is a catch, you can't be on the workspace that you want to delete and then delete it. For example as you see I have a checkmark here under nonsense, so if I go to delete workspace it won't show up in this list, so what I'd have to do is choose a different workspace. For example I'll go to standard, now I can go to window, workspace, delete workspace and nonsense is now in this list, now I can delete this and it's gone. And that's going to throw people off because in Photoshop and some other applications you can actually be on the workspace that you want to delete and then delete it and then simply choose a different workspace. Now that may have changed sense the entire Creator Suite is one whole unit now, so I haven't actually experimented with every single new application in the Suite. But that's how it used to be when you can be on the workspace you want to delete and then delete it. So once again a workspace can be provided for you automatically by Adobe or you can create your own workspace to focus on where the project or whatever task it is that you like to focus on so you can see only the tools you need to accomplish the task that you're working on.
