Subtitles of the Movie
OK, there's one final thing I want to mention when you're working with video inside Acrobat whether it's traditional video or Flash video. You may recall from earlier I said that when you add video into your PDF file, it gets embedded into the PDF, which is going to balloon the file size of your PDF, which is really no good if you're intending on emailing your PDF or maybe posting it online. So let me show you something real quick. Again, whether you're using your Movie Tool or your Flash Tool, you can do this. So as we would normally embed a video file, I'll grab the tool and then of course click and drag out a box for that object. And inside this dialog box here what I had shown you before is we just clicked on Choose and then we went and chose the video file that we wanted to add in. Instead of doing that, doing that by the way, that's what embeds the file into your PDF file. Instead what you can do is, in fact it reads right inside the field here, or insert a URL. So what I could do is I could type in a URL that would point to a video file. Maybe something like this: HTTP:// www.VTC.com. I'm completely making this up, by the way. This is not a URL to a specific video. And then it might be something like MyVideo.MOV, something like this, right? So what I've done is I've created a direct path or a hard link directly to this video file which would have to be sitting on the VTC web server in exactly this location. If you know a little bit about file paths and web design, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about here. Now, the only catch to get this to work for the user is their computer would have to be connected to the Internet in order for the video file to actually be retrieved and played back inside their PDF file. But I thought it was worth at least a quick mention here. So this is a way that you can get video files into your PDFs and keep your PDF file sizes nice and small. So you may want to experiment with this in your own work. So there you go.
