Continuing with techniques for viewing and hiding objects, why don't we create something to work with. Go over to the command panel click on sphere. Position your cursor right in the middle of the view port, click, and drag. Create sphere that's just about as big as a view port and release. I would like to see all these view ports shaded. Perspective view is shaded here, the others are in wire frame. So let's go up to customize, view port configuration, smooth and highlights, all view ports and OK. Now all our view ports are shaded. Now this isn't just a sphere this time. This is going to be a face. So let's call this 'head'. Highlight sphere right here and just type 'head' and hit return, we have renamed that object. Now I want to put a couple of eyes on here and to do that I am going to use auto grid. Click on auto grid, now any object that I create will be created on the surface of the object that I am auto-gridding to. So for example, I go right here, I click, I drag and I release and I am going to call that eyeR for right. Then I am going to go here, click, drag and release and I am going to call that eyeL for left. Click, drag, release, that is the nose. Now for the mouth, let's use a Torus a donut shape. So start right in the middle of the space where we want the mouth to be. Click, drag, release and then move again. To determine the width of the Torus and then click to finish creating the Torus. And right click to get completely out of object creation mode. And finally we are going to rename the Torus, mouth. And why don't we go down to our view port controls, click on zoom extents all. In the previous lesson we saw how to hide the selected object. Now we are just going to look at how the opposite feature works. Go to the display panel, scroll down and we can hit hide unselected and everything except the Torus is hidden. Once again we could click on zoom extents all and it brings that object up nice and big. If we want to see it even bigger. We can go down to the very right hand icon Min Max toggle. Click on that and the active view port takes up the whole middle part of the screen. And we can click again to take it back down. Another way of doing that same thing is Alt W. So if you click Alt W it will maximize it, click Alt W again and it will minimize it. Now let's bring everything else back by clicking unhide all. That brings every thing back. We will zoom our extents again. Lets try the hide by name feature. Click on hide by name, we get a list of objects, why don’t we just hide the nose. Click on the nose, click the hide button. The nose is gone, let's click here, click on the left and right eye. And to select multiple items in a list like this, hold down the control key, as you left click each item, and then click hide down here in the lower right and those are both gone. like this, hold down the control key, as you left click each item, and then click hide down here in the lower right and those are both gone.
