Navigate The Acrobat Workspace / The How To? Pane
Subtitles of the Movie
To the right of the document pane is the 'How To' pane. The 'How To' pane gives you information about specific topics within Acrobat. The 'How To' pane is displayed by default when you start Acrobat. It's a handy way to get quick help on a specific topic. For example, if I click review and comment, all of the topics about reviewing and commenting appear. And if I click an additional topic, I will get additional help, and additional topics within the reviewing and communing tab. Now, I've got buttons here, very much like on a web browser. I've got a back button go to the previous topic and a forward button. And there is also a home button. Now you can close the 'How To' tab by clicking the hide button, and relaunch it by clicking the 'How To' button which will occupy the whole pane, or you can get a specific topic by clicking this triangle to the right of the 'How To' icon and then choosing a specific topic, such as creating a PDF. And again you’ve got all your sub topics broken down, creating PDF from Microsoft Office Applications, stuff that you'll learn in upcoming lessons, but this is just quick, convenient help, when you don't have your VTC CD-Rom in your CD-Rom tray, or you not hooked up to the internet to get your VTC lesson on Acrobat. Now after you've used Acrobat for a while, you may find the 'How To' pane is a little bit obtrusive. So you can disable it by clicking this icon here, which is in this menu command, or by going back to the home 'How To' page and de-selecting the show 'How To' window at start up. Now, I am just going to hide this and show you one another thing, when you use the search command to search a document that also appears in the right pane. And if you get involved in any review tracking at all, that will also show up in here, but I don't have any PDF documents out for review right now, but that would also appear in this right hand pane, and again to reiterate, just click the 'How To' button to open it, and I've got it de-selected at start up, so the next time I start Acrobat, this window will not appear.
