Alright, in this lesson, let's take a look at the components that ship on the Acrobat CD-Rom, the Acrobat CD-Rom, you get the following. You get the Acrobat Standard or Professional application, you also get a copy of the Adobe Reader which you can distribute with CD-Rom, and other materials that you create with PDF content. You also get the Acrobat Distiller which converts post script files into PDF format. With both applications, you can convert documents from within Microsoft Office applications into the PDF format. Both applications give you the capability of adding navigation devices, such as bookmarks and links to a PDF document. Acrobat Professional gives you the following additional features. You get Acrobat Catalog which enables you to create a searchable index of PDF documents. And you get Batch Processing, which gives you the capability of automating Acrobat tasks such as creating thumbnails and setting security. I'll get into both of these topics in the Acrobat Professional lessons at the end of this tutorial. You can convert documents into PDF format from within AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Visio. Acrobat Professional gives you additional printing features such as color separation preview and printing, support for PDF X creation, rulers, guides and so on. Acrobat Professional enables you to embed multimedia content, such as QuickTime and flash movies in a PDF document. If you are currently using Acrobat Standard and you are thinking of increasing the amount of PDF, Electronic Publication that you do, you might want to consider upgrading to Acrobat Professional or perhaps having a member of your staff that would be involved in the more enhanced features of PDF creation, invest in Acrobat Professional.
