In this chapter and the next, we are going to look at three different ways of creating and working with NURBS. One is creating a CV surface, one is starting with an object, we will use a Tarus and the other is starting with curves. To create a NURBS surface you can go either here or here. This will create a surface with the control points right on the surface. This will create control vertices off the surface. So let's just use the CV surface. Your click and drag, you can change the number of control vertices in either direction here. You can change length and width and so on. And you can go to the modify panel, click the plus sign, go to the surface CV's. You can select one or more CV's, spacebar, and use the transform tools to modify the surface. And this is a good way to create gently rolling terrain or if you animate it, waves. I will just go back up to the top level and delete that. So that's the first way of creating a NURBS surface. Another way is, to choose a standard or an extended primitive. We are going to use the Tarus, click, drag, release, move back in, click, and right click. Then with the Tarus selected, right click on it, convert to NURBS. Now you can go to the sub object level and you can work with these control vertices. So for example, we could choose fuse, click here, we just fused those two vertices. Click here and click here and we've just fused those two vertices. Fuse a couple of more and right click to get out of the fuse operation. Select some of these vertices in back and we can move those, click on the spacebar to lock that in. And we can move those backwards and then get out of that. So that's a second way to create and work with NURBS surfaces. So that's a second way to create and work with NURBS surfaces. thing happens. Well in this case, you’d want to go ahead and look at the document properties. And sure enough, password security has been applied to the document, that prohibits copying contents or extracting it, which renders the snapshot tool null and void. So if you try to capture an area with the snapshot tool and you are unsuccessful, open up the document properties and see if password security is been applied.
