Briefly I wanted to talk about the differences between the two different popular versions of Acrobat 5, that being one for the PC platform and one for the Mac platform. Essentially the Mac versions have a little bit less than the PC versions. The Mac version of Acrobat 5 currently lacks Acrobat capture. This is the scanning feature in Adobe Acrobat which converts a scanned bitmap image which may contain text and words into editable scannable text. However, I get around this problem on my Mac by going to the Adobe website and taking advantage of their online service called create Adobe pdf: it's an online service that anybody can take advantage of and have Adobe create pdf files for you. Another thing the Mac version lacks is the Microsoft scripts called pdf maker. It's a simple way of creating pdf files right out of the Microsoft Office suite of products, but essentially those are the only differences in the two different platforms; and the two different versions are extremely compatible and obviously a pdf file is readable on either platform with the appropriate type of Acrobat Reader. appropriate type of Acrobat Reader.
