Welcome to the VTC Autodesk AutoCAD 2013 Essentials Course. What we're going to be looking at during this course is how to get you up to speed with the basic techniques and work tools that you need to run AutoCAD 2013 effectively. We'll be working with imperial units in this particular course. You can see that down at the bottom of the screen here on the Coordinate Readout and you can see there I've just turned it off. If I click again you can see the Coordinate Readout change as I move the cross-hairs around on the screen. Now at the moment you can see some 3D solids on the screen. There's a cylinder there for example and what you can also see there as well is a rectangular solid and those are in a 3D View right now. And what I'll do is I'll very quickly change to a 2D View using the AutoCAD Tools there and you can see I've gone now to a 2D Top View. And I'll zoom out slightly and we're looking at those solids in Plan. So you can see there that it's very quick and very easy to move around in 2D and in 3D using AutoCAD 2013. So what we'll do is we'll work through those tools, through those techniques and using the commands as well in AutoCAD 2013 to get you working effectively in both a 2D environment and a 3D environment.
